The Muslim Students Organization (MSO) from different campuses’ of Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) led by MSO President Morsid U. Guiapal held its yearly thanksgiving banquet or “kanduli” festival on August 17, 2014 at the covered court of SKSU, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat with the theme: “Islam: Faith, Submission, Service” participated by about 700 students from different campuses of SKSU.
One hundred sixty five (165) Muslim students came from Access Campus, 195 from Isulan Campus, 250 from Tacurong Campus, 65 from Lutayan Campus and hundreds of out- of-school-youth also joined the festival.
The festival started with a parade, followed by an Islamic Symposium. They invited an aleem to lecture about Islam. Prof. Esmael A. Abdula , Chairman of Campaign and Mass Mobilization, Committee on Information, MILF Central Committee and Member of Steering Committee of Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) , was invited to speak on the current status of the GPH-MILF peace agreement and the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
Also with the group of Prof Abdula were Sheihk Moidjoddin K. Talusob, Executive Director of Kalilintad Development Foundation Inc. and Ustadz Abner Kanakan. Other Speakers were Ustadz Morsid Pompong, and Engr. Bayan Magandian.
Sheihk Saguir Salendab was the main speaker in the afternoon followed by series of activities such as; contest on call to prayer (Azan), Qur’anic Reading, Speech to convey the messages of Islam (Muhadara) and Islamic Quiz Bee. Program ended with the awarding of prizes to the winners of the various competitions.
