Philippines authorities are holding a female member of the communist rebel group New People’s Army following her arrest in the southern province of Zamboanga del Norte.

The rebel, Luzviminda Elopre who also goes by the name Minda Elopre, alias Nanay, was arrested by police and military forces in the village of Sicayab in Dipolog City on July 27.

Police confirmed the capture of Elopre after she was tracked down at her hideout in the village and officials said the rebel is currently being interrogated to exact information about her organization and other members of the group.

It said Elopre is facing murder charges in connection with her group’s violent campaign aimed at putting up a separate state in the country.

No other details were made available by either the police or the army, but the arrest of Elopre was carried out by the Zamboanga del Norte Public Safety Company, Dipolog City Police Station, Regional Intelligence Division, Provincial Intelligence Branch, Regional Highway Patrol Unit 9, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 9, Military Intelligence Group 9, and Military Intelligence Battalion.
