Philippine authorities have announced the killing of A suspected bomber and the capture of his accomplish following a clash in the southern region of Mindanao.

It said Nadzir Mongka was shot dead as he tried to shoot a team of police commandos who intercepted them near Tacurong City transporting a cache of weapons and components for improvised explosives.

Police said arrested Rajib Giyaludin, who is now being interrogated by authorities at an undisclosed camp in Mindanao. The duo is believed members of a gunrunning syndicate and had been linked by the police to bomb attacks in the region.

It was not immediately known whether the two men had any links with Moro rebels or foreign terrorist groups.
