From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 5): NPA kills three policemen, injures three others in Ifugao ambush

An undetermined number of New People's Army (NPA) communist rebels ambushed a police team on patrol at 7:15 a.m. today in Sitio Nangkatingey, barangay Namal, Asipulo, Ifugao, killing three of the lawmen and injuring three others.

Police Senior Superintendent David Limmong, public information officer of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) based here, said government troopers are still trying to pursue the band of rebels who staged the ambush.

One of those killed was the police's team leader identified as Police Inspector George Lauro. PROCOR is still confirming the identities of the two other fatalities.

"The three other policemen injured were airlifted to Lagawe General Hospital of the Ifugao's capital town.

"One of our policeman remains missing. We hope to make contact to him in due time," Limmong said.
