Davao military troops deployed during Holy Week

From the Philippine News Agency (Mar 26): Davao military troops deployed during Holy Week

A sizeable number of elements of Task Force Davao and 10th Infantry Division have been here deployed since Sunday as part of the security measures implemented by law enforcement agencies here.

Lt. Col. Roberto Rivas, deputy commander of Task Force Davao, said that they are deploying personnel to 15 Catholic churches, two public terminals, and sea ports to safeguard the citizenry.

“We will be augmented by troops from the 10th ID to be detailed to the northern part and the 39th Infantry Battalion in the southern part,” Rivas said.

At the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal in Ecoland, they are strictly implementing the inspection of baggage especially those coming from Manila to see to it that all passengers are safe in their travel.

“The public should bear with us with this inconvenience because this is for our own good and for our safety,” Rivas said.

He said they will be complementing the Davao City Police Office which will also be deploying their uniformed and non-uniformed personnel.
