From the Philippine Information Agency (Dec 6): Army, Kalinga media strengthen ties for the sake of development

The 501st Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army and the Kalinga Media Club (KMC) gathered recently at the former’s headquarters here for a fellowship aimed at amplifying their working relationship especially on information service which is vital in pursuing peace and security plans. Col. Roger Salvador, 501st brigade commanding officer hosted a meeting and fellowship with 15 media practitioners from print, broadcast, and social media attending. The occasion also apprised the media on the internal peace and security plan of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) which was presented in power-point.

Salvador asked the help of the media to highlight also in their news releases the accomplishment of the AFP particularly their non-combative operations like assisting communities in various capacities that contribute to the healing of wounds inflicted by the military to civilians in the past. On the other hand, Regino Wacas, president of KMC gave his group’s impression telling the host brigade that the media in Kalinga are for development. “We assure our friends in the uniformed service that the Kalinga Media Club is one with the AFP in pursuing peace efforts in the province,” Wacas said.
