The rebel returnee was just 17 years old when he was recruited to join the extremist group.
Haribon Brigade's commander Brigadier General Jose Maria Cuerpo II said that Abas, a minor at that time, was enticed by the group's videos posted in social media.
Cuerpo acknowledged the relentless efforts of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Philippine National Police and local government units (LGU) that pressured the enemy forces to prompt the LTG supporters to surrender.
To recall, LGU Marawi has declared the LTG and Communist Terrorist Groups (CTG) as persona non grata since January 6 2020.
Meanwhile, Abbas urged the remaining CNT & LTG members to lay down their arms and embrace the program of the government for the interest of peace and development in their area.
The said surrender was made successful due to the collaborative efforts of the security sector, LGU and concerned government agencies in the province. (103rdBde)
