Police on Sunday said that one of the three New People’s
Army rebels killed in an encounter with soldiers from the 31st Infantry
Battalion of the Philippine Army this week has been claimed by his father after
he had been identified by authorities.
The remains of Domingo Z. Llantos Jr., 29, single, farmer
and resident of Barangay Taluto, Camalig, Albay, was taken into custody by his
father, Domingo N. Llantos Sr. for proper burial.
Llantos and two other companions died in a 45-minute
firefight between 15 communist insurgents under a certain Dupax of SPP1
Larangan 2 Komprob (Komite Probinsyal) Sorsogon and the government troopers at
5:30 a.m. on Wednesday this week at Sitio Cavite, Barangay Tinago, Juban,
Sorsogon.
Two Army soldiers, whose unit was conducting a combat
operation at the area, were wounded in the clash.
The identities of the two other slain rebels have remained
unknown as of press time.
