CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff (AFP) General Felimon Santos Jr joins the GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) in the inauguration of classrooms in Marawi City on June 29, 2020.
The two-storey two classrooms reinforced concrete school building and steel and concrete roofed stage of Patani Elementary School in Marawi City were constructed by the 551st Engineering Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Raymundo Rosario under the 55th Engineering Brigade of the Philippine Army led by Brigadier General Nestor Abando.
The construction of the classrooms and school stage were made possible through the cooperation of the Local Government of Marawi City and Lanao Del Sur and as well as of the private sector, the GMAKF and the Caring Cup, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
The opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the classrooms were also graced by Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Western Mindanao Command Commander; Major General Generoso Ponio, 1st Infantry Division Commander; Assistant Secretary Felix Castro Jr, Task Force Bangon Marawi Field Office Manager, Mayor Majul Gandamra, Marawi City; Governor Mamintal Adiong, Lanao Del Sur; Ms Pharida Sansarona, Marawi City Schools Division Superintendent; and Ms Rikki Escudero-Catibog, GMAKF Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer.
