From Kalinaw News (Jan 18, 2020): Department of Agriculture to provide livelihood to CAFGUs (By 75th Infantry Batallion)

BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur- Camp Jaime N Ferrer Sr, Brgy Maharlika, Bislig City (Stn) – With the continuous effort of the government, the Philippine Army in particular, to uplift the lives of Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) members, thru the joint efforts of 75th Infantry Battalion and the Presidential Management Staff (PMS)- CARAGA, the Department of Agriculture (DA)- CARAGA strengthen its support to the Indigenous People (IP) and CAAs by providing livelihood assistance.

This livelihood program known as KABUHAYAN AT KAUNLARAN NG KABABAYANG KATUTUBO (4Ks) aims to alleviate the livelihood of IP and CAAs as well to produce food and attain food security. This project by the DA implements the directive of the President for an enhanced provision of assistance in the form of agricultural and fisheries related livelihood opportunities.

Mr. Nicandro M Navia Jr, Assistant Regional Director of DA-CARAGA put into words his plan for the project and he said that “this will be the benchmark for future projects with the Philippine Army since we already partnered with different private sectors and this is the first time that we have partnered with the Philippine Army and hoping to make it productive and effective in the next cycle.”

This is another milestone for the 75th Infantry Battalion since the CAAs of the unit will be the first to avail of the 4Ks program throughout the whole 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division. This project will certainly elevate the lives of the CAAs who only received subsistence allowance which is not enough to sustain the needs of their respective families.

For his part, LTC WARREN C MUNDA, 75IB Commanding Officer expressed his gratitude to PMS-CARAGA and Department of Agriculture-CARAGA. “This project will have a great impact on the welfare and progress of our CAAs and this opportunity can easily generate income and will benefit the 554 CAAs under the 75IB. This simply shows that the government is indeed pushing forward their services to make it closer to our CAAs.”
