The struggle continues for the Salugpongan School in Sitio Nasilaban, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod this week.

The community, teachers and students evacuated again this time to Sitio Dulyan on Monday, November 11, after the paramilitary Alamara issued an ultimatum that they will destroy the school.

Some 35 students from grades 7 to 10 and three teachers walked for an hour to the Salugpongan campus in Dulyan to resume their class.

On Tuesday, the Alamara staged a rally in Dulyan, forcing some residents to join in their demand for the closure of Salugpongan schools.

Our recent video (below) documented how the soldiers are manipulating tribal chieftains of Talaingod and recruiting the Alamara to act out their objectives of dismantling the school. Leaders of Salugpongan and parents object to the military’s scheme of dividing the Lumad, as they said the school is legitimate and caters to their need.
