The Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) rated “more than 100 percent” the performance of Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) and its different units in terms of their anti-insurgency campaign.
“I can rate… it’s more than 100 percent,”AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Carlito Galvez said. “Even the President is very happy (with the performance).”
In an interview with reporters yesterday, Galvez said the accomplishment of the EastMinCom against the insurgents is “very significant.”
“We have good commanders,” Galvez said. “We have best commanders here in EastMinCom.”
Galvez was at the Naval Felix Apolinario Station in Panacan yesterday for his farewell visit and command conference.
The AFP chief cited that seven guerilla fronts were already dismantled in Davao region, and the remaining four rebel fronts were already downgraded.
Based on EastMinCom record, a total of 7,144 members of the New People’s Army were neutralized (killed, captured, apprehended and surrendered), and 732 firearms were confiscated.
