From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 21): 4 cops slain, 3 others injured in police operation in Kalinga
Four policemen were killed while three others were severely injured in a police operation in Lubuangan, Kalinga on Tuesday.
Philippine National Police Public Information Office (PNP PIO) chief and spokesman Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos on Tuesday disclosed that based on a report from PRO-Cordillera (Police Regional Office-Cordillera Administrative Region), the policemen attempted to serve a warrant of arrest against a suspect identified as Wally Sagasag at 7:30 this morning, which resulted in an exchange of fire.
The four policemen, who were killed during the gunfight, were identified as Police Officer 3 (PO3) Cruzaldo Lawagan, PO2 Juvenal Aguinaldo, PO1 Vincent Tay-od and PO1 Charles Ryan Compas.
Three other policemen, who were severely injured, were identified as Police Senior Insp. Eduard Liclic, PO1 Ferdinand Asuncion and PO1 Ferdie Diwag.
Elements of the PNP-Cordillera and the Philippine Army (PA) are now conducting pursuit operations against Sagasag, who is one of the top most wanted persons in the country.
