In line with its National Peace Consciousness Month
commemoration, 50 officers and enlisted personnel donated blood to the
Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chapter in Ormoc City last Sept. 12.
Reports forwarded by 8th Infantry Division public affairs
office chief Capt. Andrew Linao on Wednesday said the donors were briefed by
PRC medical technologist Nepthel Remulla on the importance of donating blood.
The 19th Infantry Battalion troopers were joined by
personnel from the Ormoc City Police Office, Coast Guard District Eastern
Visayas, Kananga Municipal Police Station, Finest Guardians International
Contingent Inc., civilian organizations and even farmers from nearby barangays
of Kananga and Ormoc City .
The unit has been conducting bloodletting activities with
Philippine Red Cross-Ormoc City Chapter for over six years already.
“In behalf of the Philippine Red Cross, we thank the 19th
Infantry Battalion for spearheading the bloodletting event and for spreading
public awareness on its importance,” Remulla said.
