The Cagayan De Oro-based 4th Infantry Division on Monday announced that all its units were placed under a high state of alert to help in additional humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions in the areas affected by floods and landslides Caraga, Davao and other regions in Mindanao as the low pressure areas (LPA) will continue to dumps rains in these areas and Visayas.

Capt. Christian Uy, 4th Infantry Division spokesperson, said their troopers are now helping in the ongoing clearing operations in areas hit by landslides.

Some soldiers are helping the evacuation of residents affected by flash floods in coordination with the affected local government units.

Uy said that the 4th Infantry Division was placed in alert for such missions as early as January 11 when the LPA entered the Philippine area of responsibility.

He added that they will be on this alert until the weather conditions have improved.

It is estimated that 11,788 persons in Northern Mindanao, Southern Mindanao, and CARAGA were forced to evacuate.

In Dinagat Islands, Vice Governor Benglen Ecleo issued "Alert Level 3," which imposes pre-emptive or forced evacuation in areas that have high risks of floods and landslides.
