From Kalinaw News (Aug 6, 2022): 303rd Brigade supports turn-over ceremony of over 20M Calatrava farmers Irrigation Project
CAMP GERONA, Murcia, Negros Occidental – The 303rd Infantry Brigade headed by Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, Brigade Commander together with Lt. Colonel J-Jay Javines, Battalion Commander, 79IB attended and supported the Turn-over Ceremony of Irrigation Projects, farm machineries and equipments worth over 20M for the local farmers of Calatrava, Negros Occidental in a simple ceremony graced by Governor Eugenio Jose V Lacson at Brgy. Minapasuk, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on August 05, 2022 (Friday).
The project was implemented through the Negros Occidental Office of the Provincial Agriculturist. The SPUR 2 Magtuod Irrigation Project costs P19.9 million, while the rice mill shed, multi-purpose drying pavement, walk-behind rice transplanter, mechanical reaper, and floating tiller costs P1.7 million. The project beneficiaries are the SPUR 2 Irrigators Association of Minapasuk, Calatrava and Pakigdaet sa Kalambo-an of Bug-ang, Toboso.
Also present during the turn over ceremony were Hon. Araceli Somosa, Sangguniang Panlalawigan, First District representative; Toboso former mayor and now Councilor, Richard Jaojoco, Sangguniang Bayan members; Police Major Lepawan, COP Calatrava; representatives from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), OPA staff, and other local officials.
In his message, Governor Lacson supported the advocacy of the Philippine Army in countering insurgency in condemning the presence of the Communists Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in the area and encourages the people of Calatrava and the entire Negrense to not to support the CTGs in their violence and deceptive activities.
Meanwhile, BGEN Pasaporte emphasized in his message asking for the different People’s Organizations and other local farmer groups to condemn the CTGs and prevent any attempt of said group to enter their community and organization.
“Your army in Negros will continue to support the peace and development efforts of our national and local government; rest assured we will help you maintain the peace and order in your area as long as you will cooperate and prevent the entry of these CTGs that will only destroy your community and even your family and your children’s future,” BGEN Pasaporte added.
