BANGUED, Abra, Nov. 4, (PIA) – The Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) called on all local officials of conflict affected barangays to a consultation-meeting last week to further firm up plans in those areas.

Led by Abra PTF-ELCAC Chairperson Governor Maria Jocelyn Bernos, the provincial government and member-agencies of the task force presented their accomplishments in the identified priority barangays.

Bernos reported the provincial government constructed various infrastructure projects such footbridges, water system, multi-purpose buildings, covered courts in the affected municipalities.

The governor said there are 24 conflict-affected barangays in Abra namely Bayabas, Buanao, Dulao, Duldulao, Gacab, Lat-ey, Mataragan, Pacqued, Umnap in the municipality of Malibcong; Bacag, Buneg, Guinguinabang, Lan-ag and Pacoc-Talampac in the municipality of Lacub; Alangtin, Dilong, Kili, Tubtuba and Tabacda in the municipality of Tubo; Naguillian, Sac-caang and Ud-udiao in the municipality of Sallapadan.


“We will continue to reach out these priority municipalities through our "Peoples Day" program which brings all the services of the national government agencies and offices of the provincial government closer to these areas”.

Aside from line agencies, the local government units of Tubo, Lacub and Malibcong also presented their projects and activities for the said barangays.

The punong barangays of the conflict-affected areas also presented their Barangay Development Programs where all the concerns and needs of their barangays were identified. Most of the proposed projects are infrastructures such as road openings, school buildings, barangay halls, flood controls, footbridges, irrigations, potable water supply, electricity, municipal or central markets and other infrastructure projects.

Bernos approved and committed to deliver these proposals to this areas by 2021-2022. Moreover, Department of Public Works and Health, Dept. of Interior of Local Government and the municipal LGUs assured to expedite the processing of the proposed infrastructure projects for immediate implementation. National Irrigation Administration-Abra also committed to include all the proposed water supply and irrigation systems in these areas in their 2021 budget.

Dept. of Labor and Employment, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the Dept. of Trade and Industry also committed to double their entrepreneurial developments and livelihood assistance in these areas.

Congressman Joseph Sto. Niño Bernos represented by Danglas Mayor Denise Bragas pledged to continue delivering his services to the conflict-affected areas. He reported multiple infrastructure were rehabilitated and constructed already such as school buildings and road networks. (JDP/CAGT–PIA CAR, Abra)
