The military assisted in the livelihood distribution for the Internally Displaced Persons at the Marawi City Hall.

Hijab Troopers and Task Group Tabang led by 1 st Lieutenant Cathrene O Enderez helped in facilitating the conduct of the “11 th Kawiyagan: Siyap Sa Marawi. Gagaw ko Dagtao.

“Malaking tulong ito sa pagbangon ng aming kabuhayan,” said Norfaisah Guro, an IDP who received one of the 100 Sari-Sari Store Starter Kits from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) led by Engr Annabel Encabo, the Project Coordinator.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), led by Interim Minister Dr Mohammad S Yacob, gave farming equipment. Selected IDP farmers from the Agrarian Reform Community received the following: one tractor; four rice reapers with engines; 4 mini tractors; two rakes; two sacks of fertilizers; and two baskets.

On the other hand, the Community and Family Services International (CFSI) gave booth space for IDP business entrepreneurs to sell their products. Menchie G Ampatua’s Menchie Snack Inn sold snacks during the event. Babai B Paudac’s Parachute and Flag Making displayed parachutes for sale. Ayonan Haron’s Cakes and Pastries served baked goods to the customers. Lastly, Farida T Mangcaan’s Farida Tailoring sold bags and scarves. The CFSI also turned over eight sidecars, one sewing machine, and two refrigerators to selected beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority with the help of skilled Hijab Troopers gave free services such as haircut, manicure, and pedicure. There were 54 men who availed the free haircut service while 33 and 26 people availed the manicure and pedicure services, respectively.

The program started with an invocation led by Engr Abduljalil H Yusoph. It was followed by the singing of the national anthem. After which, Assistant Secretary Felix Castro Jr of the Task Force Bangon Marawi gave the welcoming address. Secretary John R Castriciones of the Department of Agrarian Reform and Minister Mohammad S Yacob, PhD, also gave their messages.

A presentation of Participating Agencies followed; to which are: Department of Social Welfare and Development; Department of Agrarian Reform; Department of Agriculture; Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources; Department of Labor and Employment; Department of Science and Technologies; Technical Education and Skills Development Authority; Technology and Livelihood Development Center; United Nations – World Food Programme; Food and Agriculture Organizations of the United Nations; CFSI; Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority; Cooperative Development Authority; Department of National Defense – Office of Civil Defense; Department of Environment and Natural Resources; and Philippine National Police; and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Marawi City Mayor, Atty Majul U Gandamra, gave the closing remarks of the event.
