From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Sep 20): HISTORIC | BRP Tarlac to visit Russia
ON BOARD BRP TARLAC, Pier 13, South Harbor, Manila (DWDD) – The Philippine Navy is set to send one of its premier ship to Russia for a historic port visit.
BRP Tarlac (LD-601) is set to sail tomorrow to from Pier 13, Manila South Harbour with an estimated 400-strong contingent composed of sailors, marines, and members of the media to include DWDD, your Armed Forces Radio.
The visit to Vladisvostok, Russia is considered a historic first for the Philippines and the Philippine Navy, which will usher a stronger relationship with their government and their Armed Forces.
Last July, the Russian government committed to supporting the programs of the Philipine Navy in the aspect of training, maintenance and sustainment of future acquisition. This was after Vice Adm Robert Empedrad, Philippine Navy Flag Officer in Command had a successful talk with Adm. Vladimir Ivanovich Kolorev, Russian Navy Head.
