From Malaya Business Insight (Jun 27): Retired AFP official named defense asec
PRESIDENT Duterte has named retired Armed Forces operations chief Angelito de Leon as new assistant secretary of the Department of National Defense.
The President signed the appointment papers of De Leon last June 21 but Malacañang only released it yesterday.
He replaced Raymund Jose Quilop, an appointee of former President Benigno Aquino III who resigned last year.
De Leon, who retired from the AFP in October 2017, is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1984.
He served as AFP operations chief and in several posts in the Philippine Army, including commander of the 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army in Central Luzon.
Malacañang also released the appointment papers of Gregorio Angelo Villar who was named new assistant secretary at the Office of the President, and Antonio Molano Jr. as assistant secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Villar served as deputy director general of the Philippine Information Agency prior to his appointment while Molano served various positions in the DPWH including regional director for Central Luzon.
