PATIKUL, Sulu (DWDD) – An encounter occurred between operating troops of the 32nd Infantry “Daredevil” Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Ronaldo Mateo, Battalion Commander and members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) yesterday, June 18, 2018 at Barangay Panglayahan, Patikul, Sulu
According to reports, troops of the 32IB encountered the group of ASG Sub-leader Hajan Sawadjaan, and while in pursuit of the enemy, they again were able to engage the same group at Sitio Sailih which resulted in a ten (10) minute firefight
During the clearing operations, soldiers discovered that Improvised Explosive Device (IED) were emplaced around the enemy position.
The encounter resulted in one (1) killed on the enemy side and the recovery of one (1) backpack and one (1) mobile phone.
Troops are continuously conducting security patrol operations to neutralize the remaining terrorist in the area. AES / MCAG
