The two kidnapped policewomen who were recently freed in Sulu met President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, May 19.

Photos from Malacañang showed the President shaking with hands Police Officer 2 Benierose Alvarez and Police Officer 1 Dinah Gumahad in Davao City.

The policewomen, along with two civilians were kidnapped in Sulu on April 29. Malacañang said the cops were finally freed on Wednesday, May 16, through the assistance of Moro National Liberation Front founding chair Nur Misuari.

On Saturday, Misuari and Chief Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza fetched Alvarez and Gumahad in Jolo then turned them over to Duterte in Davao City.

Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Carlito Galvez, Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde, and Sulu Task Force head Cirilito Sobejana were also present during the turnover.

According to Sobejana, Alvarez and Gumahad underwent medical examination and debriefing from the military before they met the Duterte.

Police suspect a certain “Adiang Adiang Group” was behind the kidnapping. They reportedly demanded P5 million for the cops' release.
