Wounded Personnel Medals were pinned Wednesday to troopers
wounded in action during the ongoing military offensive against the
Basilan-based Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) terrorists.
Awarding of the medals was personally done by Western
Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM) head Lt. Gen. Mayoralgao M. Dela Cruz, WESMINCOM
spokesperson Major Filemon Tan said.
The wounded soldiers are all from Joint Task Group Basilan,
he added.
They were wounded in the intensive operations aimed at
neutralizing ASG sub-leader Isnilon Hapilon and his men Tuesday.
Awarded with the Wounded Personnel Medal were Technical Sgt.
Rolito Quimson, Staff Sgt. Warren Ybañez, Sgt. Elizalde Togado, Cpl. Teofisto
Rabena, Cpl. Ryan Jay Zerrudo, Cpl. Rizalito Sayson, Cpl. Archie Pacionela,
Cpl. Noel Morales, Cpl. Marnie Carpentil, Pfc. Ronald Abayon, Pfc. Julius
Avila, Pfc. Albert Villanueva, Pfc. Vincent Maghari, and Pfc. Jeffrey Habala.
