Ten former rebels in Negros Occidental received P15,000 each
in financial assistance under the Comprehensive Local Integration Program
(CLIP) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The rebel returnees received the assistance during the
turnover rites led by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. Wednesday at the Provincial
Capitol.
Through the CLIP, the DILG aims to assist rebel returnees as
they re-integrated into mainstream society, and help in the achievement of the
goal of permanent and peaceful closure of all armed conflicts with non-state
armed groups.
The turnover of assistance was witnessed by Provincial
Planning and Development Officer Ma. Lina Sanogal, Provincial Health Officer
Ernell Tumimbang, DILG Provincial Director Ma. Joy Marideth Madayag, Col.
Francisco Delfin, commander of the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade, and Senior
Superintendent William Señoron, acting director of the Negros Occidental Police
Provincial Office.
In January this year, four rebel returnees in Negros
Occidental also received livelihood assistance worth P50,000 each, or a total
of P200,000 under the same program.
