Police and military authorities assured the public that
there is no group identified and linked with the Islamic State of Iraq and the
Levant (ISIL) that exist in this province and in nearby Lanao del Norte
province.
The police and military officials issued the statement
following observations that some groups have posted statement on social media
sites identifying themselves with the ISIL.
Senior Supt. Sigred Ramos, police provincial director, told
the Philippines News Agency that some groups identify themselves with the ISIL
“in order to generate financial support from them (ISIL).”
Col. Gilbert Gapay, 2nd Mechanized Brigade commander, said
there is no group of ISIL or ISIS within this province and in Lanao del Norte
based on the validation they have undertaken.
“If we will observe in the social media sites, they just
align themselves with the ISIS for obvious
reasons, to get funding support. They don’t have any direct contact or link
with the ISIS ,” Gapay said.
