From Ang Malaya (Oct 10): Office of the President procuring helicopter engines for presidential choppers

Bids and Awards Committee of the Office of the President is procuring two helicopter Twin Pac Engine models PT6T-3BE and PT6T-3DE for two Bell-412 helicopters of Presidential Airlift Wing. PhP259 million is allocated to procure two helicopter engines.

Pre-bidding conference is set on October 16 at Executive Secretaries Hall and Gallery, 4th floor of the Mabini Hall Building in the Malacañang compound. Bid opening will be on October 30.

The 250th Presidential Airlift Wing, also known as the Bluebirds, currently has three B-412 helicopters, one S70a chopper and two fixed-wing planes (Fokker F-27 and F-28 planes).

Presidential Airlift Wing provides airlift services for the Republic’s President, Cabinet Members, Presidential Staff, immediate members the President’s family, visiting Heads of states and other local and foreign VIPs. It is also mandated to provide command, control and communication in forward base operations involving presidential flights and assign safety pilot for state-VIP travels abroad.

The unit may also provide additional security augmentation to the Presidential Security Group.
