Reports from Agusan del Norte police said that a team from the 29th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, led by 1Lt. Geoffrey Gordon Barrios, were conducting a combat patrol operations at the hinterlands of Brgy.
The Army team accordingly approached the armed person and as he was holding a long firearm, they arrested him. The team with the farmer's consent proceeded to enter the farmer's hut and found more long firearms inside. They were able to confiscate from the farmer: an air gun, a homemade shotgun, a Caliber .38 Revolver, another improvised long firearm, 9 pieces of ammunitions, 3 for shotgun and 6 for Caliber .38, a Nokia Cellular and a long sharp bolo with a scabard. The farmer was later identified as Regino Cuadra Bernales,50; a resident of the said place. And since he cannot show any documents which will show the legality of possessing such firearms, he was informed of his rights under the law by the Army team and was brought to Kitcharao Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
Bernales and the confiscated items were now at the custody of Kitcharao police as appropriate case is being prepared against him.
Army and police personnel in the area were constantly on alert and were conducting combat patrol operations after the series of incidents of harassments perpetrated by the rebels recently in the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur.
