Former
Philippine Navy (PN) flag-officer-in-command Vice Admiral Alexander Pama was
appointed to replace outgoing National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Council (NDRRMC) executive director Eduardo Del Rosario who announced his
resignation due to health reasons some weeks ago.
This
was confirmed by Department of National Defense (DND) spokesperson Dr. Peter
Paul Galvez Sunday.
He
added that a "office turnover" will be taking place Monday.
This
will be a very simple ceremony, the DND spokesperson stressed.
"Upon
the submission of (the) resignation (letter) filed by Undersecretary Del
Rosario due to health reasons, we forwarded this to the President and the
President has accepted it, the Secretary (DND chief Voltaire Gazmin)
recommended (the) acceptance of the resignation and Vice Admiral Pama was
appointed to replace Undersecretary Del Rosario," Galvez added.
He
added that Pama was selected due to his vast experience at the military and
defense sectors.
"We
view Pama to be very capable with his experience being the chief of our Navy
and he was also former chief of staff of then (DND) Secretary Gilbert Teodoro
and was also exposed to various events during that time which include dealing
with 'Ondoy'," he concluded.
