The Provincial Peace, Integration and Development Unit, a multi-sectoral group composed of the provincial government, military, police and civil society groups, is embarking on the second phase of its “ Win the Peace” campaign in the hinterlands of Escalante, Toboso and Calatrava.

The theme of the project is “ Serving the Countryside, Working with the People”.

Col. Jon Aying, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, yesterday said this is a continuation of the 14-day focused military operations and humanitarian mission dubbed as “Marching for Peace, Serving the Countryside”, which benefitted more than 20,000 populace .

Aying said the recent activity has provided residents of the hinterland barangays of Escalante, Toboso and Calatrava their immediate needs.

The second phase aims to come up with more tangible projects that will reduce the hunger problem and address the basic health needs, in line with the Negros First Agenda of Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr., who actively participated in the first phase of the mission, he added.

Aying also said they have conceptualized a much tailor-suited approach in tandem with the civic action group under in the second phase of the peace and humanitarian mission that includes the creation of Bayanihan Team Activities – Army Mass Base Operations Team and the Bayanihan Team Activities - Awareness and Basic Needs Operations.
