Joining higher authorities and supportive civil society groups, Mindanao leaders trained on Monday their barrage of pleas to Nur Misuari and his followers, urging them to calm down and allow the Aquino government to smoothly pursue its initial peace accord with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) for the sake of lasting peace. This developed as Misuari, founding chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), said categorically yesterday morning that contrary to hyped reports, he and his armed followers will not resort to violence despite their rejection of the MILF-government peace process. “We are against it, but we would not stand violently in the way of the peace pact unless our camps are attacked,” Misuari told the ABS-CBN morning public affair program via phone patch yesterday, shortly before the scheduled signing of the framework agreement in Malacañang. Misuari confirmed that some emissaries had been sent to reach out to him, saying they wanted him to talk to incumbent authorities including ARMM caretaker-Governor Mujiv Hataman. “They asked me to talk to Hataman…But I will not talk to him (because) he has no authority (to give decisive assurance),” said....
