The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that it will
be deploying its four-newly acquired CBRNE (chemical biological radiological
nuclear and explosives risk) vans to further secure the delegates of the
four-day Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting in Metro
Manila.
PNP chief Director General Ricardo Marquez on Monday
confirmed this information.
"(Deployment of the four CBRNE vans) are part of our
APEC preparation, we panel all areas of engagement, meaning route, the billet,
the route, and the venues. and part of the paneling is to make sure there are
no radioactive materials present in any venue," he added.
Prior the acquisition these CBRNE vans, Marquez said the PNP
was only using portable mobile equipment for such missions.
"And it was just so timely that these vans arrived last
week, so we'll have more mobile detection equipment to cover all the hotels and
the venues," he said.
