From Katropa DWDD-CRS Virtual RTV Website (Dec 31, 2018): An NPA rebel arrested in Bukidnon
CAMP OSITO D. BAHIAN, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon - A suspected member of the NPA terror group is captured by the operating elements of Bravo Company, 8th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army in Sitio Kiudto, Brgy Hagpa, Impasugong, Bukidnon at around 10:20 in the morning of December 29, 2018.
The suspected NPA member captured is identified as Michael Abalang Tinampay, 27 years old, and a resident of Sitio Lakbangan, Brgy Minalwang, Claveria, Misamis Oriental. He is assumed to be a member of Squad 2, Platoon RYAN, Guerilla Front 4B, Sub-Regional Committee 1, Northern Central Mindanao Regional Command. During the arrest, the military personnel was able to confiscate in his possession five cartridges of cal. 5.56mm, one cartridge of 40mm high explosive (HE), three units of cellular phones and a motorcycle Motoposh 155 without plate number.
The apprehension of the said NPA took place after a concerned citizen reported to the military that there was an unidentified person riding a motorcycle roaming around the vicinity and was seen to bring with him illegal ammunition. Upon receiving the information, elements of 8th Infantry Battalion conducted mobile patrol at the said place which led to his apprehension. Immediately after his arrest, the alleged NPA member was already turned over to Impasugong Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and further filing of charges.
To further secure the area, troops of 8th Infantry Battalion immediately initiated a military operation in order to disrupt any threats following the apprehension of an NPA rebel. As a result, an encounter between the troops of 8th Infantry, Battalion, and Communist Terrorists believed to be members of Sub Regional Committee 2 of Northern Central Mindanao Regional Command in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon ensued on the same barangay a day after the incident. The firefight lasted for about five minutes which prompted the enemy to leave their ammunition in the area. Further, said troops are still in pursuit operation.
"These NPA terrorists continue to sow fear to our natives by doing illegal acts. We are so much thankful that the residents in the area are very cooperative and very vigilant that we were able to sojourn any crimes that these rebels might do. Thus, we are calling to our people to continue supporting the government in ceasing any NPA rebels in carrying out chaos to our place." said Lieutenant Colonel Ronald M Illana, the Commanding Officer of 8th Infantry Battalion.
Meanwhile, Colonel Edgardo Y De Leon was very positive that the CPP NPA was not able to successfully conduct their 50th NPA Celebration since they are resorting to other ways on sowing terror to the natives of Bukidnon.
“We, the military, are grateful for the failure on the celebration of the CPP NPA Anniversary. For five decades, they continue to deceive our people in their senseless ideology. However, our people were already informed of the terroristic deeds of the NPAs and now they are the ones who refute these terrorists by cooperating to the law enforcers in reporting any doubtful persons in their area. I personally believe that NPA atrocities will soon come to an end by strengthening the collaborative efforts between our soldiers and the natives of the Bukidnon.” | 8th IB,4ID,PA
