From the Manila Standard (Apr 15, 2024): Lanao battle leaves three Mautes dead
THREE alleged members of terror group Dawlah Islamiyah – Maute were reportedly killed in a shootout with the military in Munai, Lanao del Norte.
The Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), in a statement on Sunday, identified the fatalities as Nezrin Sandab or Firdaus, Saipal Abubacar or Fariz, and Pabo Zainoden Radia or Musab.
A soldier sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
On Saturday, troops from the 103rd Infantry Brigade encountered an undetermined number of suspected Maute Group members in Barangay Lindongan, the statement read.
The firefight lasted for around 20 minutes.
The troopers retrieved from the encounter site three M14 rifles, 7.62 mm ammunition, and six backpacks.
Westmincom chief Lieutenant General William Gonzales commended the troops for the operation.
