April 16, 2023 - 18th Special Forces of the Philippine Army (PA), elements of Philippine Coast Guard Special Operations Group, US Army and Australian Defense Force counterparts conducted Fast Rope Insertion/Extraction training rehearsals as part of the ongoing Balikatan exercise at Brgy. Punta Baja, Rizal, Palawan.

 
More or less 60 highly trained RP-US and Australian Special Operations Forces demonstrated their capability in performing fast rope drills intended to build readiness and interoperability among BK 38-23 participants in the coming days.

 
Fast Rope Insertion/Extraction System (FRIES) is primarily used for troop insertion especially in denied areas and places where helicopters are unable to land. Such rehearsals aim to demonstrate PH, US and Australian capability in rapidly deploying forces in the most restrictive and challenging terrains.

The troops deployed in Western Command Joint Operational Area (JOA) will be able to share their experties and knowledge as well as gain good practices from their counterparts. These types of operations suit the demands of WESCOM in a joint operational environment.
