CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, Pili, Camarines Sur-“Ang aming Barangay ay suportado ang gobyerno para sa tunay na pagbabago.”

These were the exact words written in one of the streamers carried by the Barangay officials and residents in Masbate province during the conduct of another simultaneous peace rallies, Friday, March 26.

Protesters from Barangays Poblacion and Lagta in Baleno, Masbate marched down the main roads and decried the deception, extortion activities amid the pandemic and other terroristic, ruthless and unlawful activities of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).

Meanwhile, in Barangay Pawa, Masbate City, the same activity was also held.

Before the activity ended, rallyists signed a tarpaulin symbolizing their denouncement and abhorrence against the CTG while expressing a hundred percent support to the government’s campaigns to end local communist armed conflict.

Replica of the CPP-NPA-NDF’s flags were also burned to show that communist NPA terrorists are not welcome in their Barangays.

It can be recalled that peace rallies were already conducted in Matanglad and Bonbon in Milagros town which were replicated by Barangays Ubungan Dacu and Ubungan Diot in Baleno.

Meanwhile, a total of 96 Barangays and 10 municipalities in Masbate already declared the CTG as persona non-grata.

Lt. Col. Siegfried Felipe Awichen, Battalion Commander of 2nd Infantry Battalion (2IB) expressed his gratitude to the Masbateños for their wholehearted support to the thrust of the Army and the government as a whole to negate the CTG in the whole Masbate and eventually, in the Bicol region.

MGEN HENRY A ROBINSON JR PA, on the other hand, stressed that as the security sector, LGUs, government agencies and the Bicolanos continue to join hands, the end state of the Whole-of-Nation Approach which is to end the more than 5-decade insurgency in the country is achievable.

“Marami pa tayong kailangang gawin para tuluyang wakasan ang insurgency problem sa ating bansa. But since the start of our unified efforts to wipe out this terrorist group, positive results and developments are evident especially in the communities once infested by the CTGs. At first, peace rallies may seem usual and trivial, but for people who were once victimized by the atrocities of the CTGs, participating in these kind of activities are more than enough to show their clamor and earnest desire to live in a place where peace and progress is within reach. Kaya hindi po tayo titigil hangga’t hindi ‘yon naibibigay sa ating mga kababayan lalo na sa darating na henerasyon,” MGen. Robinson, said.
