CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental – A former New Peoples Army (NPA) leader surrendered with firearms to 58th Infantry “Dimalulupig” Battalion (58IB) at Advance Command Post, Sitio Langusahan, Minalwang, Claveria, Misamis Oriental last November 27, 2020.
The surrenderee was identified as alias Roldan, 28 years old, and a former leader of Squad Dos, Platoon Banglas, Guerilla front 88 of North Central Mindanao Regional Command (NCMRC) operating in the boundaries of Bukidnon, Agusan sur and Misamis Oriental.
Alias Roldan brought along with him One M14 rifle, One homemade shotgun and Two sniper scope. According to him, he wanted to surrender and seek government’s help and wished to join his former comrades who already returned to the mainstream society. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the government for extending help.
Lieutenant Colonel Ricky L Canatoy lauded the decision of Alias Roldan to surrender, saying it was a welcome development as government forces continued to battle with the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) which marked its 52nd founding anniversary last Saturday, December 26.
“I encouraged those who are still in the armed movement to surrender and return to the folds of the law. The government are more than willing to accept your decision towards peace and progress,” Lt Col Canatoy added.
Alias Roldan is now in the custody of 58IB while awaiting for the processing of his enrollment to E-CLIP.
