CALOOCAN CITY, Sept. 15 (PIA) -- The Philippine Army (PA) installs the new commander of the Army Signal Regiment (ASR) on Monday,September 14, 2020.
The Commanding General, Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana presided the Change of Command Ceremony where Brig. Gen. Milton Y. Beset took over as Regiment Commander replacing Brig. Gen. Vener Odilon D. Mariano.
Under Brig. Gen. Mariano’s leadership, the command was able to enhance the Army’s cyber competencies and operations by strengthening the Army’s Command and Control, Communications and Cyber Systems (C4S) capabilities and ensured its readiness especially in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.
ASR has orchestrated the installation of the audio-visual system for video-teleconferences, enabled the e-Learning System of Training and Doctrine Command, and pursued the implementation of the Document Tracking System of the Headquarters Philippine Army.
The unit has also established its responsiveness by deploying Mobile Command Centers and Repair and Response Team, and by establishing a training facility that made the forces more effective in heeding the tasks of unified commands.
Brig. Gen. Mariano, a graduate of Philippine Military Academy “Maringal” Class of 1988, is set to assume as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, Electronics and Information System, J6, AFP.
On the other hand, Brig. Gen. Beset served as Deputy J6, Armed Forces of the Philippines prior to his assumption. He also served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Command and Control, Communications, and Cyber Systems, Philippine Army.
“Our leaders should, more importantly, be multi-directional and imaginative, with emphasis on the latter so you can see how to do things better. But of course, as long as you have the right attitude on mission accomplishment and troop’s welfare, ASR and the Army will achieve right and more,” said Lt. Gen. Sobejana in his remarks.
“To all of us, let us maintain the passion for service. Doing so, we will be good at our work, we will find happiness, and we will be more productive. Ang taong masaya, maraming nagagawa,” he added. (PA/PIa-NCR)
