BORONGAN CITY, Dec. 15 (PIA)—The Philippine National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa awarded Pat. Mark Jerome Rama (posthumously) the Medalya ng Kadakilaan today at the Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office.
Rama's remains lay in wake at the Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office and will be transferred to his hometown, Brgy. San Eduardo, Oras. Eastern Samar.
The pregnant widow, Aileen, of the late patrolman Rama received the citation, while Gamboa placed the medal on top of the coffin of the slain policeman.
In a statement to the local media, Gamboa said that the police extended some financial help to the family.
"Nandito kami para tulungan, although hindi naman talaga mababayaran ang buhay ng pulis namin," said Gamboa.
He also asked the media to tell the people that what the NPAs are doing "hindi maganda." He called the NPAs terorista.
He also said that he is willing to help the widow.
He added that Josephine, mother of Rama requested that the two siblings of Rama be admitted to the police force.
"Nakita niyo naman kahit na may nangyari, they are still willing to serve." Gamboa said.
It will be remembered that on December 13, some NPAs ambushed the patrol car of the Dolores Mobile Force by using improvised explosive device in Barangay Libuton, Borongan City.
