A top police official announced there are groups or individuals who are just after for money by affiliating themselves to the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Senior Supt. Angelito Casimiro, Zamboanga City police director, made the declaration Monday based on the observation on statements posted on the social media sites.

“If you look at the different social media platforms, there are individuals who would like to affiliate with the ISIS for obvious reasons, for monetary support,” Casimiro said.

“So, if you look at the social media platforms, there are groups in Basilan, Sulu, Central Mindanao, and even in Zamboanga. Anybody can post anything over the social media,” Casimiro added.

However, he said they are validating all of the statements posted in social media sites to determine its origin and veracity.

He said they can determine “who are the groups that have threat and capacity to do it.”
