From the Philippine Information Agency (Nov 16): No specific, credible threat in Phl for APEC Leaders’ Meet-PNP
Philippine National Police (PNP) reiterated today that there is no specific and credible threat in the country on its hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meet this week.
“We are now on highest alert level not only in the wake of the Paris terror attacks but more importantly in order to ensure the safety of delegates including 21 heads of economies,” Police Director General Ricardo Marquez said.
“We are aiming for zero risks and terror/incident free. Achieving this entails the conduct of sustained and deliberate intelligence works with friends and allies and vigilance from all peace-loving citizens,” Marquez added.
Relative to this, Metro Manila residents are advised to maximize the long weekend from November 17-20 to get away from the capital by going up North or chill down South.
APEC is a multilateral international organization founded in 1989 that seeks to foster free trade and economic prosperity.
Member-economies include Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, People’s Republic of China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United States of America, and Vietnam.
