Two New People's Army (NPA) fighters were captured along
with their weapons during a clash with 9th Infantry Division troopers in
Camarines Sur Friday morning.
Capt. Mardjorie Paimela Panesa, 9th Infantry Division public
affairs office chief, said the encounter took place at 5:10 a.m. at Barangay
Sagrada, Iriga City .
She added that soldiers under Task Group CamSur and the 22nd
Infantry Battalion were conducting routine security patrols when they were
fired upon by an undetermined number of NPA rebels.
The shooting lasted for 10 minutes and resulted in the
capture of two NPA fighters and their weapons consisting of two M-653 automatic
rifles, one M-203 grenade launcher and subversive documents.
The rebels were turned over to PNP Iriga for proper
disposition and filing of appropriate charges.
