From Ang Malaya (Apr 13): US Naval Intelligence: Chinese ballistic missile can reach PHL
China’s anti-ship ballistic missile can reach Philippines says in an unclassified report of Pentagon’s Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) regarding the naval capabilities of China.
“The introduction of long-range anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCM), non-PLA(N) weapons such as the DF-21D anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM), and the requisite Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) architecture to provide targeting data will allow China to expand its combat capability further into the Philippine and South China Seas,” says in the report.
ONI’s report says that China’s naval modernization was able to produced technologically advanced and flexible force. It further says that PLA Navy currently has more than 300 surface combatants, submarines, amphibious ships, and missile-armed patrol craft.
In South China Sea, China has deployed 2 Nuclear Attack Submarines, 4 Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarines, 16 Diesel Attack Submarines, 9 Destroyers, 20 Frigates, 25 Amphibious Ships, 38 Missile Patrol Craft, 8 Corvettes – US Naval intelligence reports.
