From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 9): Maguindanao's battle-tested Army battalion has new chief

A battle tested Army battalion based in Maguindanao has new commander in the person of Colonel Roy Galido who replaced Colonel Bernie Langub.

Galido, PMA Class 1981, assumed office Sunday in turn over ceremonies presided by Major General Romeo Gapuz, 6th Infantry Division chief.

Galido used to lead the Army's 40th Infantry Battalion based in Aleosan, North Cotabato.

The turn over rites was held at 38th IB headquarters in Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Langub, an ordnance expert, was assigned as chief of the 6th IV Division Training School which will be transferred to Barangay Semba where the 38th IB base.

In turn, the 38th IB will be moved inside Camp Siongco to serve as its camp battalion unit. The 38th IB handles operational and administrative control over Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in the provinces of Maguindanao, North Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat.

The 38th IB will serve as security unit of the 6th Infantry "Kampilan" Division which covers the provinces of Maguindanao, North Cotabato and part of Sultan Kudarat.

This unit will also provide perimeter security of Cotabato City and the Awang Airport located beside the 6th ID headquarters.
