Posted to Kalinaw News (May 2, 2022): Workers, People’s organizations, former rebels and supporters condemned CPP-NPA-NDF on Labor Day in Aurora and Nueva Ecija.

BALER, Aurora–A group of workers, people’s organizations (PO), former rebels and supporters of CPP-NPA-NDF in the provinces of Aurora and Nueva Ecija gathered in separate locations on Labor Day, Sunday, May 01, 2022 condemning the atrocities & evil activities of the Communist Party of the Philippine (CPP), New People’s Army (NPA) & National Democratic Front (NDF).

In a message exclusively sent to PNA by Ka Brendon who requested his anonymity, the stage demonstrations against the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) were conducted in the Covered Courts of Brgy. Diteki, San Luis, Aurora and Brgy. Tagumpay, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.

Ka Brendon said that there were 93 protesters who attended in Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija while 127 protesters participated in Brgy. Diteki, San Luis, Aurora criticizing the CTG’s operations in the said provinces.

The activity’s main theme “Pagmumulat sa Katotohanan, Labanan at Kondenahin ang Panlilinlang ng walang Katuturan” refers to the CTG’s motives & activities.

In Nueva Ecija, the condemnation rally was followed by the oath taking of newly elected officers and this was facilitated by Tagumpay People’s Organization headed by Yolanda S. Baldos (President) together with the Brgy. officials of Brgy. Tagumpay, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija headed by Leah Geronimo Chairwoman, Pastor Loreto Guib of SAMBAYANAN and different POs from the barangays of Bagong Sikat, Calabasa and Olivete in said town.

In Aurora, the “Alyansa ng Nagkakaisang Mamamayan Para sa Kasaganahan at Kapayapaan” facilitated the Condemnation and Peace Rally, Covenant Peace Signing of unity accord for peace and prosperity, and Candle lighting as a symbol of unity and peace, and finally the Burning of NPA’s Flag as closing part of the program. The different People’s Organizations from Central Aurora commenced this activity.

Ka Brendon said that the said groups criticized the deal of some politicians with the CPP-NPA-NDF just to win. He added further that the endorsement came straight from the Central Committee of the CPP known as the Kamatayan Bloc/KABAG party lists whose only aim is to destroy the good reputation of the government.

“The CPP-NPA-NDF is no longer significant in the two provinces of Aurora and Nueva Ecija. These terror groups could no longer find allies and have lost control of barangays where they used to have sympathizers,” Ka Brendon said, moreover explaining that the support from the communities is now on the side of the government who is providing relevant information to the public for their successful anti-insurgency campaigns.

The CPP-NPA is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

The Anti-Terrorism Council also formally designated the NDF as a terrorist organization on June 23, 2021, citing it as “an integral and inseparable part” of the CPP-NPA that was created in April 1973.

Now that I am a soldier, I can use my skills and knowledge to serve our country,” said Daniel Castillo, a former NPA leader after the Closing Ceremony of the Candidate Soldier Course held in Mawab, Davao De Oro on April 28, 2022.

Daniel Castillo alias Steven is a former Political Instructor of the Guerilla Front 55 of the CTG who surrendered to 10ID in November 2020. He is one of the 34 former rebels or otherwise known as “friends rescued” out of the 286 strong candidate soldiers who finished the six (6) month-long training at the 10th Division Training School.

Castillo admitted that transitioning from an NPA rebel into a surrenderor and subsequently into a candidate soldier is tough. “It is a regimented life, we have to wake up very early, we have to do drills, to exercise. We were taught different skills and techniques in order to survive a soldier’s life to prepare us sa future isip mga sundalo ng 10ID. For me the hardest part syempre is the adjustment from being a civilian to being a soldier, tapos syempre yung pakikisama ko rin sa mga kasama ko because of my background,” Castillo added.

Moreover, present during the ceremony is Paulette Castillo, Daniel’s mother, former Regional Peasant Secretariat of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) who served in the CTG for 30 years and surrendered in July 2021.

“Siyempre karon nalipay kog maayo nga nag sundalo na siya, syempre compared kung Bagong Hukbong Bayan (BHB) siya. Syempre nagpapasalamat ako sa EO70, NTF-ELCAC kasi kung walang NTF-ELCAC malamang hindi makakapag sundalo ang anak ko at hindi rin siya mag susurender,” said Paulette Castillo in vernacular.

Meanwhile, aside from Castillo, Gelejurain I Ngujo, former Supply Officer of Guerilla Front 55, and twin brother of Gelejurain II who was killed in a clash in February 2020 in New Bataan, Davao De Oro also graduated from the same class.

Kalinaw News: AFP joins 2022 Asian Defense & Security Exhibition

Posted to Kalinaw News (Apr 28, 2022): AFP joins 2022 Asian Defense & Security Exhibition

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – To update and evaluate its modernization program requirements, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined this year’s Asian Defense & Security (ADAS) exhibition happening in Pasay City from 27 to 29 April 2022.

The AFP Chief of Staff, General Andres Centino attended the ADAS 2022 opening ceremony at the World Trade Center Metro Manila on Wednesday. In a message, he cited the event as an opportunity for the AFP’s project evaluation teams to assess and evaluate suitable requirements for the military’s defense and security platforms, systems, and equipment.

“The Defense and Security sector has significantly benefited from the ADAS series. By establishing networks and fostering stronger collaboration with the leaders of the industry, the event provides opportunities for our policymakers to develop effective and swift responses against a myriad of national security threats,” said General Centino.
Also present were Mr. Andrew Marriott, Managing Director of Apac Expo Pte. Ltd., in charge of organizing the exhibition, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr, and Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana who was the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
“We encourage all personnel from the defense and security sectors to maximize this opportunity presented by ADAS 2022 to attend this highly significant event and update themselves on the latest weapon systems and equipment,” Secretary Lorenzana said.

The 4th Asian Defense and Security, Crisis and Disaster Management Exhibition and Conference is participated in by 146 local and foreign companies from 30 different countries.

As the premier platform for manufacturers and distributors, it seeks to showcase capabilities or solutions that address the requirements of defense and security agencies.

National disaster reduction agencies have similarly benefitted from the event where they are able to avail of the latest updates on new techniques and technologies in disaster management.

Following its successful launch in 2014, ADAS reaffirmed its position as the Philippines’ Flagship Defense and Security event as it continues to attract a significant number of international exhibitors from around the world to Manila.

“By bringing the latest technologies from around the world to Manila, the exhibition has opened wider avenues for the professional training, education, and enhancement of personnel competencies and skills,” General Centino said.
